About Me

Dr. Diem Phan is a Licensed Psychologist proudly serving the Denver Metro community for over a decade. 

​

Dr. Phan completed her B.A. in Psychology and English from the University of Iowa and her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University. Her Pre-Doctoral Internship was completed at The University of Notre Dame's Counseling Center, with a concentration in Mind/Body Therapeutic Approaches. Dr. Phan has built a strong foundation of diverse clinical and testing services in a wide range of settings: university counseling centers; community mental health centers; state psychiatric hospitals; residential treatment centers; and outpatient/private practice.

Dr. Phan is trained extensively in empirically-validated and clinically-effective treatment modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Exposure & Ritual Prevention, and Acceptance-Commitment Therapy all within a culturally-sensitive and -competent setting. These approaches aim to assist her clients resolve emotional pain in order to live full and meaningful lives. She is passionate about using Acceptance-Commitment Therapy, a powerful treatment tool that creates change through increasing one's psychological flexibility and openness in order to engage in more values-based behaviors. Dr. Phan is also Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)-trained for trauma specifically.

Most of Dr. Phan's professional time is also devoted to completing psychological testing and evaluations for individuals in the following areas: ADHD, International Adoption, Learning Disabilities, Immigration/N-648 Medical Exemption, IQ, Socioemotional/Behavioral, Personality, Court-Related, and Military Employment Clearance. She employs a Therapeutic Assessment approach to testing, centering on a collaborative and insight-oriented process to assist clients in identifying testing goals and in building new ways of behaving based on results and recommendations derived from testing results.

In her personal time, Dr. Phan greatly enjoys: spending time with her husband, son, and dog; being with family and friends; playing competitive tennis; snowboarding; road biking; reading; attending theatrical and musical performances; exercising; being in the outdoors; making sentimental things for her son; and traveling and exploring new places.
